Recreating my son in 3D

When I was a kid my engineer of father used to create toys for me; railways, radios,…

As a family tradition I like to do the same to my kids.

I lately created a sound vibration tatami bed to my daughter. I spend my week-ends on a project for my son’s birthday.

I am preparing a HD avatar of him that I will be able to integrate into games or virtual environment for him. This avatar will reflect the actual motions of his eyes, mouth, head, body and gestures, with high precision.

The first step is the creation of an high definition 3D model of him like in this example.

Once he will be totally digitalized, once his body is millions of polygons, I will integrate 3 main algorithms that will bring it to life:

1- eye tracking, so that his eyes motion are reflected on the avatar, bringing it life and soul.

2- the second algo is the face’s feature tracking, which animates the avatar’s face.

3- Finally, of course, the skeletal tracking which animates avatar’s body. Bone by bone.

The most difficult thing that I want to investigate is an attitude learning algorithm that will record his way to move so that any other person “entering” into his avatar will move like my son.

All in all, he will get a super HD avatar of himself, not only based on high polygons but also accurate reaction to eye, face, body motions.

Mad papa.
